Beta Release Date: April 23, 2013

I've been looking forward to "Don't Starve Together" (DST) since before I knew it was happening. Looking back now, I can think of multiple times I'd said the only thing that the original "Don't Starve" game could improve on was the addition of multiplayer content. Now, that is a reality, and DST has become one of my new favorite games.

The game's goal is so simple it's right in the title- don't starve. Seeking out food and supplies to survive in the strange alternate universe you've been sucked into has never been more entertaining than when you get to do it with friends.

The game begins with you choosing a character out of a selection of characters from the original game.

Sadly, Woodie the Lumberjack is not among those, but DST is still in beta, so it's possible he'll be added later.

After that, you're immediately released into the host's randomly generated world. The point and click nature of the game is exactly the same, as well as all the art and environmental aspects of the game. Really, the only noticeable difference is the addition of multiplayer- but that's really all you need.

Hosting servers is easy and honestly, anyone can do it. Servers only stay up as long as the original hoster is online, but it's so easy to host another that those who want to continue playing can just have multiple of their own servers to pop into with different friends.

The addition of all the Steam Workshop mods already available for the new game, plus the low price and extra copy for owners of the original game, make DST feel like a very natural extension of the original.
